\n\tBill Maher isn\u2019t left speechless often, but he was after hearing Kid Rock\u2018s thoughts on Kendrick Lamar\u2019s Super Bowl halftime show.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the latest episode of HBO\u2019s Real Time<\/em>, the host asked the singer-rapp<\/a>er (a longtime supporter of President Donald Trump who has previously spoken out against DEI initiatives) what he thought of this year\u2019s halftime show, as some anti-DEI folks criticized the performance for only including people of color.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo put it nicely, it wasn\u2019t my cup of tea, but I got to respect it,\u201d Kid Rock responded. \u201cAnd here\u2019s why: I grew up loving, emulating all things hip-hop, break dancing, deejaying, graffiti, rapping, and so I understand the culture a little bit more than most. And when I say most, of course, I mean white people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cSo watching it\u2026 after it\u2019s a lot of things going through your head, you know, everyone\u2019s like that sucks, this that and the other. I\u2019m like, this kid pretty much came out figuratively with both middle fingers in the air, doing what he does for the people who love what he does unapologetically. And I don\u2019t think he gives a frog\u2019s fat ass what anyone thinks about it. So I go, huh, it\u2019s pretty much how I built my whole career. I gotta respect it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cAll Summer Long\u201d artist went on to claim that Colin Kaepernick (the former NFL quarterback who is known for\u00a0kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality) should be credited for helping Lamar get the halftime show gig.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve heard nobody answer this question: how did he get that gig? Jay-Z. What happened there? I think Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar should both send Colin Kaepernick a Bundt cake and a six-pack of beer and a \u2018thank you\u2019 note with a bunch of money in it, because without him kneeling and getting everyone\u2019s panties in a bunch over the anthem, self-included, I don\u2019t think that happens,\u201d Kid Rock said.<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore Maher could get a word in, Kid Rock also wanted to note that the \u201cNot Like Us\u201d rapper\u2019s booking for the Super Bowl halftime show \u201cwas the epitome of DEI blowing up<\/a> because the NFL was all this DEI and racism, all this stuff. They got Jay-Z in their booking this, and like Kendrick Lamar goes out there and basically turns DEI into an IED.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s like all Black people or all people of color speaking to his crowd in the hood, Black people. It was like the most exclusive thing ever and I\u2019m like, \u2018Fuck yeah, that\u2019s awesome.\u2019 I\u2019m laughing my ass off,\u201d he added, leaving Maher visibly speechless.<\/p>\n

\n\tKid Rock previously performed in the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, which also featured Janet Jackson, among others.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe other guests featured on the latest episode of Real Time<\/em> included former Rep. Tim Ryan and Pamela Paul.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
