SZA and Lizzo nearly started a side quest of a rock band with a third artist, but it never fully got off the ground.<\/p>\n
During a Twitch stream on Valentine\u2019s Day (February 14), Lizzo discussed her longtime friendship with the New Jersey songstress and revealed that they considered forming a group while they were recording their collab \u201cF2F\u201d from SZA\u2019s 2022 SOS<\/em> album.<\/p>\n AD LOADING…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWe just always been friends, and it\u2019s a sacred space for me in this industry,\u201d Lizzo explained. \u201cWe [had] this little period of time where we were just linking up in the studio. One particular night, mind you, we was gonna start a rock band, called Pussy Lasers. Oh my gosh, she not gonna get mad if I say this.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were going to start a rock band called Pussy Lasers with an incredible other artist who I don\u2019t know if she even wants to be mentioned, so I\u2019m not going to mention her.\u201d<\/p>\n Initially \u201cF2F\u201d was going to be for the group, but it ended up living on SZA\u2019s record-breaking LP.<\/p>\n \u201cI was like, this shit is hard, though,\u201d she added. \u201cI was like, \u2018Man, pull that Pussy Lasers shit up!\u2019 And let me tell you something \u2013 I sat and watched this girl freestyle the whole fucking song. She ate that shit! At the end of it, I was like, \u2018That\u2019s the song.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The pair\u2019s friendship goes beyond just music.<\/p>\n Back in 2023, SZA jumped to Lizzo\u2019s defense online after she grew tired of online hate directed at the Cuz I Love You <\/em>singer.<\/p>\n In a series<\/a> of tweets, SZA spoke out against social media<\/a> trolls in defense of her friend \u2013 and even doubled down when a fan questioned her.<\/p>\n \u201cI be wondering where all the virtue signaling ,well spoken shit talking ,internet warriors are when someone genuine needs defending,\u201d SZA began. \u201cWhere the fuck do y\u2019all be at for lizzo? Do y\u2019all actually know how to support others or only tear them down.\u201d<\/p>\n When someone responded to disagree and say that Lizzo does get support, SZA said: \u201cNOT EFUCKINGNUFF. For as much free love, encouragement and positivity she embodies n shares on every app<\/a> daily ? The ratios\u2019s don\u2019t add up.\u201d<\/p>\n She added: \u201cI also dgaf who don\u2019t agree. It\u2019s been on my mind for a minute.. makes me upset. jus want everyone to practice kindness and shutting tf up more often cause GADDAMN ITS UGLY OUTSIDE ALREADY.
