\n\tWater, earth, fire and air are combining once again.<\/p>\n

\n\tNickelodeon has greenlit an animated series<\/a> set in the world of its beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender<\/em>. The new show, titled Avatar: Seven Havens<\/em>, has a 26-episode order and will follow a new Avatar. The series will be the third in the Avatar<\/em>-verse, following the original show and The Legend of Korra<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe announcement is timed to the 20th anniversary of the original series\u2019 debut on Feb. 21, 2005. Nickelodeon will also mark the anniversary with new YouTube<\/a> content, in-person experiences and books.<\/p>\n

\n\tAvatar: The Last Airbender<\/em> creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are behind Seven Havens<\/em> as well. The initial order will be split into two parts (\u201cbooks,\u201d in Avatar<\/em> parlance) of 13 episodes each and is in production from Nickelodeon Animation\u2019s Avatar Studios banner. Casting and a premiere date will be announced later. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor two decades, the richly crafted world of Avatar: The Last Airbender<\/em> has introduced audiences to a world of compelling characters and groundbreaking storylines, captivating fans globally,\u201d said Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. \u201cWe can\u2019t wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAvatar: Seven Havens<\/em> is, according to the show\u2019s descript<\/a>ion, \u201cset in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she\u2019s the new\u00a0Avatar\u00a0after Korra \u2014 but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity\u2019s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization\u2019s last strongholds collapse.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen we created the original series, we never imagined we\u2019d still be expanding the world decades later,\u201d DiMartino and Konietzko said in a joint statement. \u201cThis new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlong with the new series, a Last Airbender<\/em> feature film focusing on the original series\u2019 main character, Aang, is set for release in January 2026. To mark the show\u2019s 20th anniversary, Nickelodeon will debut two new YouTube series on the Avatar: The Last Airbender<\/em> channel, add original content to the recently launched Avatar Legends YouTube channel and is planning a celebration for Comic-Con in San Diego later in the year. Avatar: The Last Airbender in Concert<\/em>, featuring a live orchestra performing the show\u2019s score, is touring (mostly outside North America) through May. <\/p>\n

\n\tNetflix\u2019s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender<\/em>, meanwhile, will run for two more seasons. It\u2019s based on the Nickelodeon show, but DiMartino and Konietzko aren\u2019t involved.<\/p>\n

\n\tDiMartino and Konietzko are executive producing Avatar: Seven Havens<\/em> with Ethan Spaulding. Sehaj Sethi is co-executive producer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
