Just Blaze has revealed that Big Pun was responsible for kitting out his first-ever recording studio.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Closed Sessions<\/a> as part of the Chicago platform\u2019s Legend Conversation<\/em> series<\/a>, the renowned producer explained how Pun\u2019s generosity gave him a boost early in his career.<\/p>\n AD LOADING…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Just Blaze began by recalling visiting Pun around 1999 or 2000 while his house was being renovated and seeing brand new music equipment lying around the property, which he planned to use for his own home studio.<\/p>\n \u201cI start pointing things out to him like, \u2018Why do you have this and<\/em> this? Because these two things kinda do the same thing,’\u201d the former Roc-A-Fella hitmaker said. \u201cI\u2019m pointing out a lot of stuff that he bought that he didn\u2019t need.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd he was like, \u2018Oh, so Sam Ash fleeced me?\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018Yeah, they sold you way more than you need.\u2019 I started breaking down to him what he does need and what he doesn\u2019t need.\u201d<\/p>\n Blaze\u2019s knowledge impressed Pun, who made a proposition to the then up-and-coming producer.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018Let me ask you a question, you seem to know a lot about this: when I\u2019m finished with the house, will you come and help me set up the studio?\u2019 I said, \u2018Sure, no problem,’\u201d he remembered.<\/p>\n \u201cHe said, \u2018That\u2019s your word?\u2019 I said, \u2018Yeah.\u2019 He said, \u2018Take whatever you want.\u2019 Pun literally built out my first studio.
