Tokamaks rely on external magnets and an induced <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/physics-and-astronomy\/plasma-current\">plasma current<\/a> but are known for instability. Stellarators, by contrast, use only external magnets, which, in theory, enables better stability and continuous operation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, according to Dr. Francesco Sciortino, co-founder and CEO of\u00a0Proxima\u00a0Fusion, Proxima\u2019s \u2018Stellaris\u2019 design is the first peer-reviewed  fusion power plant concept that demonstrates it can operate reliably and continuously, without the instabilities and disruptions seen in tokamaks and other <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roaches.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Published in \u2018Fusion Engineering and Design,\u2019 Proxima chose to share its findings publicly to support open-source <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur American friends can see it. Our Chinese friends can see it. Our claim is that we can execute on this faster than anyone else, and we do that by creating a framework for integrated physics, engineering and economics. So we\u2019re not a science project anymore,\u201d Sciortino told TechCrunch over a call.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe started out as a group of founders saying it\u2019s going to take us two years to get to the Stellaris design\u2026 We actually finished after one year. So we\u2019ve accelerated by a year,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded two years ago, Proxima has raised $35 million in funding from the European Union and German government, along with $30 million in venture capital. The company aims to build a fully operational fusion reactor by 2031.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its competitors include Commonwealth Fusion Systems, which is backed by Bill Gates\u2019s venture fund Breakthrough Energy Ventures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ian Hogarth, a Partner at Plural, one of\u00a0Proxima\u00a0Fusion\u2019s earliest investors, added in a statement:\u00a0\u201cWhen\u00a0Proxima\u00a0started its journey, the founders said, \u2018This is possible, we\u2019ll prove it to you.\u2019 And they did.
