\n\tBill Maher has an idea for a new show: \u201cThe Real Housewives of the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Real Time <\/em>host opened the latest episode of the HBO show by sharing his reaction to the \u201cshouting match\u201d that took place earlier Friday between President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and Ukrainian President\u00a0Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat else is going on? Not much. Nothing comes to mind,\u201d Maher quipped to laughter from the audience. \u201cOh, in World War 3 news<\/a>, we\u2019re on the other side now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe three leaders got into a tense back and forth during a meeting in the Oval Office, which ultimately led to Zelensky being asked to leave the White House. While Trump, Vance and Zelensky initially met before signing a minerals deal (which never got signed)\u00a0that Trump said would have moved Ukraine closer to ending its war with Russia, according to the Associated Press<\/a><\/em>, Trump ended up berating Zelensky the last 10 minutes of the meeting.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou\u2019re gambling with World War III, and what you\u2019re doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country that\u2019s backed you far more than a lot of people say they should have,\u201d Trump told Zelensky at one point. Meanwhile, the Associated Press<\/em> reported that Zelensky\u2019s main objective going into the meeting was to press Trump not to abandon his country and to warn against moving too close to Russian President\u00a0Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore showing a clip of the heated engagement on Real Time<\/em>, Maher prefaced, \u201cIt devolved into this shouting match, which I\u2019m sure Trump thinks is good TV.\u201d After, that\u2019s when the comedia<\/a>n declared it \u201cThe Real Housewives of the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLater in the show, Maher sat down with guests Rahm Emanuel, former White House Chief of Staff and mayor of Chicago,\u00a0and CNN\u2019s\u00a0Fareed Zakaria, to get their perspective on the fiery meeting.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou know, it\u2019s funny, but it\u2019s really tragic to see the president of the United States and the vice president bully, berate, demean, cajole somebody who depends on the United States for its survival,\u201d Zakaria said. \u201cMore than that, over the last 100 years the United States, whether it\u2019s supported Britain at the right moment, whether it\u2019s supported the allies in World War I, it was always clear morally, politically whose side we were on. We were on the side of the victim of aggression. We were on the side of the democracies. We were against the dictators. We were against the aggressors.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cAnd to see this bizarre moral reversion\u2026 I mean it was absolutely clear in that listening to Trump, he\u2019s much more comfortable and sympathetic with Vladimir Putin.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEmanuel backed up Zakaria\u2019s comments, adding, \u201cThis will not work with the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor a long time our foreign policy has been basically internationalist versus isolationist. That\u2019s kind of been the structure. Now, we have a foreign policy of either principles or predatory,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t think the American people who think of themselves are gonna want to see themselves as we want those minerals for this price, we\u2019re gonna take Greenland for this, we\u2019re gonna take that. That is not where the American people have a self-image and especially not the way it\u2019s being done and conducted this way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tChrystia Freeland, the former Canadian Finance Minister and Liberal leadership candidate, was also a guest on the latest episode of Real Time<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
