I bought DOOM\u2019s notebooks and kept them safe for years to ensure his powerful musical legacy could be preserved\u2026.[T]he resolution Jasmine and I have reached\u2026represents a significant triumph in protecting the genesis of a once-in-a-lifetime talent. I am proud to have played a role in saving some precious markers of DOOM\u2019s life in music and trust Jasmine to determine the next steps for his notebooks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thomas said, on behalf of herself and her family: \u201cWe are relieved to bring this chapter to a close. Over the years, there have been many public narratives concerning this matter, some of which have been misrepresented or unfairly magnified. While differences did arise along the way, we acknowledge that Egon preserved DOOM\u2019s invaluable notebooks and are grateful to now have them returned as part of this resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The notebooks, which were the subject of a lawsuit in 2023, reportedly contained written lyrics for tracks from\u00a0<em>Operation Doomsday,<\/em><em>Madvillainy<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>MM\u2026FOOD<\/em>\u00a0as well as other unreleased content.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlapatt never consulted with DOOM about his acquisition of the notebooks and took advantage of DOOM\u2019s being out the country to obtain them,\u201d the lawsuit reads.<\/p>\n<p>Alapatt allegedly denied that he had possession of the notebooks but then admitted to having them after being confronted by DOOM. He claims that DOOM owed him $12,500 in rent and since he paid it for the late rapper, he is the rightful owner of the works.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough Alapatt has professed that he \u2018does not intend to publish\u2019 the unauthorized digital copies he made, he does not have to \u2018publish\u2019 the copies of his infringing copies to be liable,\u201d the complaint continues. \u201cRegardless, [DOOM\u2019s estate] alleges that Alapatt actually shared the copies of the notebook he made with others.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
