\n\tGwyneth Paltrow is opening up about turning to alcohol during the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Oscar-winning actress got candid during a recent conversation with Dr. Mary Claire Haver \u2014 a board-certified OB-GYN, certified menopause practitioner and author of\u00a0The New Menopause<\/em> \u2014 on The Goop\u00a0Podcast<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m really in the thick of it right now, so I\u2019m all over the place,\u201d Paltrow said of her menopause symptoms. \u201cBut I noticed my symptoms are, like, pretty well under control unless, you know, in January when the fires were happ<\/a>ening in LA. I\u2019ve, like, used alcohol for its purpose. I was medicating.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Iron Man<\/em> actress shared that while she and her husband, Brad Falchuk, were not directly impacted by the January fires that ravished the Pacific Palisades and Altadena, \u201cso many of our close friends have lost everything\u201d. It was during her \u201cdeep grief\u201d after the fires that \u201cI think I drank every night,\u201d Paltrow admitted.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNormally, now at this point, I don\u2019t drink a lot at all. Maybe I\u2019ll have one drink a week,\u201d she said. However, Paltrow found that her menopausal symptoms \u201cwere completely out of control\u201d when she was drinking every night, adding, \u201cIt was the first time I really noticed, like, causation in that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHaver offered in response, \u201cLots of my patients say the same thing. They\u2019ve really just spontaneously realized that they\u2019ve cut back on alcohol or just quit altogether because it just hasn\u2019t been worth it. They don\u2019t bounce back the same way. It stays in our system a lot longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDozens of celebrities were among the tens of thousands who lost their homes and businesses in the fires that swept across L.A. At least 29 people were also killed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
