The statement is <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arent enough when I call and she pops into the Zoom frame barefaced and with her blonde hair neatly plaited in two braids, snuggled up on a couch \u2014 no black, sunglasses, or out-there accessories in sight. She introduces herself to me as Stefani (as if I didn\u2019t already know), quipping at the fact that we share the same name. \u201cI\u2019m a Stefani too, so we\u2019re both Stefanis.\u201d\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-268701\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>\n            It may be a surprise to hear this considering how much has been made about how <i>Mayhem<\/i> is her most \u201cLady Gaga\u201d record in years. The sound of <i>The Fame Monster<\/i> and <i>Born This Way<\/i>, that high-concept, dark electro-pop which vaulted her into global stardom and coalesced the first layer of the Lady Gaga identity, is all over this new album. Call it a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/music-news\/lady-gaga-abracadabra-new-mayhem-1236125520\/\">return-to-her-roots effort<\/a> as it oozes theatricality and camp, goes big on stadium-sized instrumentation, and in \u201cDie With A Smile,\u201d sees her <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/lady-gaga-bruno-mars-die-with-a-smile-hot-100-number-one-five-weeks\/\">reigning in the top 40<\/a> once again. Gaga from the 2010s is back like no time has passed at all \u2014 though, of course, it has. \u201cI&#8217;ve always been in charge of my music, but I would definitely say that I&#8217;m more the boss in my life now than I ever have been,\u201d she tells The FADER. \u201cAnd it took me a long time to get here.\u201d\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            It\u2019s the circumstances of how the record came together that set the foundation for Gaga\u2019s triumphant return and her best album in years. Recorded over 2023 and 2024 in Malibu, California, at Rick Rubin\u2019s legendary Shangri-La Studios, where she also made 2016\u2019s <i>Joanne<\/i> and parts of 2013\u2019s <i>Artpop<\/i>, she assembled a tight team consisting of executive producer Andrew Watt, French electronic producer Gesaffelstein, Canadian hitmaker Cirkut, and her fianc\u00e9 (executive producer and occasional co-writer) Michael Polansky. Unlike with making 2020\u2019s <i>Chromatica<\/i>, a project where she says she \u201csecond guessed myself a lot,\u201d she walked into <i>MAYHEM<\/i> with a clear vision; she knew how she wanted the guitar to sound, the bass, the synths, and creating came quickly. There\u2019s dashes of Prince in the bright, tinny guitars that blaze through songs like \u201cKillah\u201d and \u201cLoveDrug,\u201d ABBA in the neon-lit auras of \u201cVanish Into You\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t Call Tonight,\u201d and hyperpop in \u201cHow Bad Do You Want Me,\u201d the album\u2019s poppiest song with a transcendent, Swiftian bridge. It\u2019s the sound of <i>Mayhem<\/i> that embodies its ethos: glorious chaos that shatters the Gaga mirror but glues it back together again so the refractions radiate brighter in all directions. Nothing is subtle and everything is heightened, including her own storytelling as she belts about heartbreak, yearning, and wanting to unleash \u201cthe beast inside\u201d on the wonderfully campy karaoke belter \u201cThe Beast.\u201d\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Gaga credits her newfound confidence for the unbridled nature of the record. She points to the Gesaffelstein-produced \u201cKillah,\u201d a down-and-dirty funk explosion and the record\u2019s standout, as an example of how centered and reinvigorated she felt while making <i>Mayhem<\/i>: \u201cI don&#8217;t know if I&#8217;ve ever sounded that confident on a song before. It&#8217;s just peak confidence and I&#8217;m somebody that needs to fantasize about confidence to have it. \u201d Their collaboration is one that\u2019s over a decade in the making after she tried to get him for <i>Artpop<\/i> but things didn\u2019t work out. \u201cHe&#8217;s amazing. He&#8217;s super interesting. He has a very interesting way of working,\u201d she adds. Gaga\u2019s sung about fame before on songs like \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=d2smz_1L2_0\">Paparazzi<\/a>\u201d but she says she doesn\u2019t think she\u2019s ever \u201cwritten about it the way I did on that song. That song has a particular venom.\u201d She calls it \u201cvery angry,\u201d but also haunting, and\u2026 kinda funny? After some consideration, Gaga concludes it\u2019s ultimately more an indictment of her own feelings: \u201cIt&#8217;s almost like saying, I don&#8217;t really know why.
