A Williamsburg barber has reopened in defiance of the state\u2019s coronavirus lockdown \u2014 and is vowing to keep on clipping despite facing thousands of dollars in fines.<\/p>\n

Ilya Iskhakov, owner of Beard Barberia Cut & Shave, said Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s order has drowned his business in debt \u2014 and with nearby shops in Long Island and Westchester reopening, he couldn\u2019t chance losing clients to suburban stylists.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to risk another three months not working when Westchester and Long Island are reopening 10 miles away,\u201d Iskhakov told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just unfair the way New York City is being handled and it\u2019s really upsetting because a lot of people have lost their businesses, lost jobs and a lot of kids can\u2019t eat,\u201d Iskhakov added.<\/p>\n

The barber first reopened his business briefly last month, after he was paid $500 by activists behind the group \u201cLiberate America.\u201d<\/p>\n

The city promptly summonsed Iskhakov and he remained closed once again until Monday, after he heard barbershops just outside the city would be reopening this week.<\/p>\n

Salons cannot open until Phase 2 of Gov. Cuomo\u2019s staged reopening plan. The Hudson Valley and Long Island entered that second phase this week while New York City likely won\u2019t reach that benchmark until at least late June.<\/p>\n

Claiming his business is the only open barbershop in Williamsburg, Iskhakov has seen a \u201cvery high demand\u201d in his first few days back in operation. He and two other barbers are working inside, taking customers\u2019 temperatures before they enter while also requiring all patrons to wait outside at a safe social<\/a> distance.<\/p>\n

Iskhakov was in the middle of an interview with The Post Thursday \u2014 with a line of customers outside \u2014 when officials from Mayor de Blasio\u2019s office busted the shop again and issued his business a second summons for operating under lockdown.<\/p>\n

Iskhakov now faces up top $12,500 in fines from both summonses combined, with a court date set for Aug. 20.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not worried,\u201d he said of his forthcoming court app<\/a>earance. \u201cI\u2019m going to say how it is. The mayor doesn\u2019t make laws.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if he would remain open, Iskhakov said he wouldn\u2019t cut and run.<\/p>\n

\u201cStay open!\u201d he said. \u201cI have two tickets. What am I going to do? I\u2019m going to keep going at this point. What, are they going to take my license? We\u2019ll see about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
