It also provides tools for reporting and analytics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this month, Mews <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">raised <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$75mn<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, bringing its total funding to date to $411mn, according to PitchBook data. To date, the company has acquired 12 competitors as it looks to increase its market share.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scaleup is riding<\/span> <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordeconomics.com\/resource\/tourism-key-themes-2025-growth-continues-amid-greater-uncertainty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sustained growth<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in global <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> to fuel its expansion. Mews reported 50% year-on-year growth in 2024, processing more than $10bn in payments volume and surpassing $200mn in revenue. Last year, the scaleup also earned unicorn status after raising $110mn at a valuation of $1.2bn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While things are going well at Mews, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welle feels that the Dutch government isn\u2019t doing enough to support entrepreneurs. \u201cThere\u2019s no plan for tech startups,\u201d Welle said <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in a recent <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/quotenl_hij-moet-natuurlijk-een-kleine-formele-slag-ugcPost-7306288616383602688-7-ab\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_ios&amp;rcm=ACoAAA9Vo18BM51o631UiNkXetrIqY-ebGqilxs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">interview<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cThat is the biggest problem.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Growing_concerns_over_Dutch_plans_for_startups\"><\/span>Growing concerns over Dutch plans for startups<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welle is not the only Dutch tech leader frustrated with the lack of support for up-and-coming businesses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Robert Vis, co-founder and CEO of Bird, announced last month that the company plans to move most of its o<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">perations out of the Netherlands. He didn\u2019t mince his words, either.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBoth The Hague and Brussels enjoy being in meetings and talking more than they get shit done,\u201d Vis <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">told TNW<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, adding that EU policymakers are \u201ckilling innovation.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Job van der Voort, CEO and founder of Remote, an HR platform valued at over $3bn, believes Europe as a whole is not doing enough to nurture the next big tech success stories.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Van der Voort also warns that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">burdensome tech regulation<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is encouraging moves beyond the continent. \u201cIt\u2019s becoming unattractive to start and maintain a business here,\u201d he told TNW last month. \u201cThat\u2019s why I tell startups to leave Europe if they want to succeed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Van der Voort has followed his own advice.
