In most campaign types, you can exclude certain demographics, or make bid adjustments with manual bid strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Detailed Demographics are a type of audience targeting that goes one layer deeper. For example, while demographics let you choose parents vs. not parents, detailed demographics let you zoom in on \u201cparents of infants,\u201d \u201cparents of toddlers,\u201d \u201cparents of teens,\u201d etc.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-type-of-detailed-demographics-are-available-in-google-ads\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_type_of_Detailed_Demographics_are_available_in_Google_Ads\"><\/span>What type of Detailed Demographics are available in Google Ads?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Google Ads offers a range of detailed demographic options, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Parental Status:<\/strong> for example, Parents of Infants or Parents of Teens<\/li>\n<li><strong>Marital Status:<\/strong> Single, In a Relationship or Married<\/li>\n<li><strong>Education:<\/strong> for example, Current College Student or Advanced Degree holder<\/li>\n<li><strong>Homeownership Status:<\/strong> Homeowners or Renters<\/li>\n<li><strong>Employment \u2013 Company Size, Industry:<\/strong> for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technology<\/a> Industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s important to remember that most of this data is inferred by Google. If you\u2019re curious about what Google thinks it knows about you, you can check \u201cMy Ad Center.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-use-detailed-demographics-in-your-campaigns\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_use_Detailed_Demographics_in_your_campaigns\"><\/span>How to use Detailed Demographics in your campaigns<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can add Detailed Demographics to your Search, Shopping, Display, Demand Gen, and Video campaigns by going to <em>Audiences, keywords and content &gt; Audiences &gt; Edit audience segments<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>You can also add Detailed Demographics to your Performance Max audience signals.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, you can exclude Detailed Demographics from Search and Display campaigns, since they do not (yet) use the Audience Builder workflow.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-sample-use-cases-for-detailed-demographics\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sample_use_cases_for_Detailed_Demographics\"><\/span>Sample use cases for Detailed Demographics<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While there are infinite scenarios where leveraging Detailed Demographics might help your campaign performance, here are a few examples from my coaching practice to inspire your strategizing.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Targeting specific demographic segments:<\/strong> If you sell products or services that <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eal to a specific demographic, such as homeowners or college students, Detailed Demographics can help you reach them more effectively.<\/li>\n<li><strong>B2B targeting:<\/strong> If your target customers are other businesses, you can use company size and industry to reach the right decision-makers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Excluding irrelevant demographic segments:<\/strong> If your products or services aren\u2019t suitable for certain demographics, you can exclude them to avoid wasting ad spend. For example, if you install inground pools, it probably makes sense to exclude renters.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Complementing or substituting Life Events targeting:<\/strong> Detailed Demographics can sometimes serve as a substitute or complement to life events targeting. For example, instead of targeting people who recently got married, you could target people who are currently married. Instead of targeting people who are about to graduate college, you can target current college students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In my experience, Detailed Demographics are most effective when used in conjunction with Search or Shopping campaigns. Because they are quite broad, I rarely use them on their own for Display, Demand Gen, or Video campaigns.
