The Summer Hikaru Died\u00a0<\/em>is coming to Netflix this year, while its Japanese broadcast has a slightly more concrete window of summer 2025. The anime adapts the KADOKAWA-published manga by Mokumokuren<\/strong>, which Yen Press describes as:<\/span><\/p>\n

It has Hikaru\u2019s face. It has Hikaru\u2019s voice. It even has Hikaru\u2019s memories. But whatever came down from the mountains six months ago isn\u2019t Yoshiki\u2019s best friend. Whatever it is, it\u2019s dangerous. Carrying on at school and hanging out as if nothing has changed\u2014as if Hikaru isn\u2019t gone\u2014would be crazy\u2026but when it looks so very like Hikaru\u2026and acts so very like Hikaru\u2026<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The manga began serialization on the Young Ace Up website in August 2021 and has six tankoubon volumes as of December 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n
