{"id":658159,"date":"2025-03-21T07:25:10","date_gmt":"2025-03-21T04:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/federal-judge-blocks-doges-access-to-social-security-administrations-banks-of-personal-information\/"},"modified":"2025-03-21T07:25:10","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T04:25:10","slug":"federal-judge-blocks-doges-access-to-social-security-administrations-banks-of-personal-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/federal-judge-blocks-doges-access-to-social-security-administrations-banks-of-personal-information\/","title":{"rendered":"#Federal judge blocks DOGE&#8217;s access to Social Security Administration&#8217;s banks of personal information"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A federal judge on Thursday issued an order blocking Elon Musk\u2019s Department of Government Efficiency from accessing systems at the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a> Security Administration (SSA) that store the personal information of millions of Americans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/25598954-court-blocks-doge-access-to-ssa-data-banks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the Thursday ruling<\/a>, U.S. District Judge Ellen Hollander in Maryland accused DOGE of being \u201cessentially engaged in a fishing expedition\u201d in search of fraud based on \u201clittle more than suspicion.\u201d Hollander said DOGE \u201cnever identified or articulated\u201d a reason why it needs access to the \u201cpersonal and private data of millions of Americans.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The access, per Hollander, violates several federal privacy laws, and the order warned of cybersecurity risks. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Per the filing, DOGE has 10 staffers at SSA, and seven of those had access to personally identifiable information in SSA\u2019s data systems. TechCrunch has identified several, including Akash Bobba and Scott Coulter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hollander said SSA initially granted DOGE access to the systems, which included Social Security numbers, medical records, drivers\u2019 license numbers, tax information, and reams of other personal information.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
