Trouble\u2018s accused killer has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the late rapp<\/a>er\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Fox 5 Atlanta<\/a><\/em> reports that Jamichael Jones received the sentence on Thursday (March 20) as part of a plea deal \u2013 just one day before jury selection for the murder trial was set to begin.<\/p>\n

Jones was facing murder and other charges, but pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter. He has been behind bars since shortly after Trouble\u2019s murder in 2022, and will receive credit for time served as part of his 20-year sentence.<\/p>\n

Trouble was shot and killed in June of that year around 3 a.m. Jones was the former live-in boyfriend of the woman the rapper was with and he reportedly broke into her apartment and shot him in the chest.<\/p>\n

According to the paperwork,\u00a0Jones reportedly woke the woman up by punching her in the face and a struggle between Jones and\u00a0the Def Jam Recordings artist\u00a0ensued.\u00a0During the altercation, Jones allegedly pulled out a gun, shot Trouble once in the chest and fled the scene. Deputies discovered him laying on the floor when they arrived at the apartment and rushed him to a local hospital where he died.<\/p>\n

The woman and Jones had been in a relationship for roughly three years, but she\u2019d recently broke it off due to him being \u201cjobless\u201d and failing to pay his bills. After she dumped him, Jones allegedly punched her in the face and fled. Though she called police, she never finalized the report.<\/p>\n

Jones turned himself in days later.<\/p>\n

Boosie Badazz was close with the Atlanta rapper and later admitted he \u201ccried for hours straight\u201d when he learned of his passing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was my friend, bruh,\u201d he said in a 2022 VLAD TV<\/em> interview. \u201cThat\u2019s who I go to the clubs with, who I talk to every other day. That was always a friend of me, Vlad. Always smile with him, he was different, this was a light skin Boosie. We made music together, but we just talked all night about real shit. That was my boy, like everybody know in Atlanta, that was my boy. That\u2019s who I did everything with. We were raising all our girls to be friends. In Atlanta, that\u2019s who I fucked with.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI cried for hours straight on the plane in my daughter\u2019s lap, my six-year-old\u2019s lap. It was so sad, bruh. I\u2019m crying in my six-year-old\u2019s lap. She kept saying, \u2018What\u2019s wrong daddy?\u2019 And all I could think about in my head was him and his daughter. That\u2019s all I could think about, him and his daughter, and me dying and my daughter hurting. That\u2019s all I could think about, crying on my daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
