Google said this will align click reporting with Google Ads and thus may impact some current and historical data reported in Merchant Center. <\/p>\n<p><strong>What is changing. <\/strong>Google wrote in this email, \u201cAs of April 21, 2025, we\u2019re updating Google Merchant Center to align click reporting with Google Ads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The email goes on to say:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis change reflects new advertising formats that have different types of interactions. While Google Ads reports clicks separately from other interactions, Merchant Center currently reports all interactions as product clicks. With this update, the definition of product clicks will be the same across both platforms.<br \/>As a result, you\u2019ll notice some changes to your current and historical data reported in Merchant Center. There will be no change to your reporting experience in Google Ads, where you\u2019ll continue to see clicks and interactions for your ad campaigns.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>More details. <\/strong>Arpan Banerjee who <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/beXtremeArpan\/status\/1904208971965116620\">notified<\/a> me of this, said the email has a hyperlink to the Google Ads definition of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/google-ads\/answer\/6281923\">interactions<\/a>, which reads:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe main user action associated with an ad format\u2014clicks and swipes for text and Shopping ads, views for video ads, calls for call assets, and so on.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Why we care. <\/strong>If you run Google Merchant Center and notice a change in click reporting around April 21st (in about a month), then this is why.
