\n A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers wants to know what role China played in Disney\u2019s live-action remake of \u201cMulan\u2013\u201d and to what degree the studio was aware of human rights violations at filming locations.<\/p>\n

According to the movie\u2019s credits, parts of \u201cMulan\u201d were filmed in the northwest region of Xinjiang, where China has detained Uighur Muslims in mass re-education camps.<\/p>\n

The backlash against Disney for cooperating with China in the midst of those camps has been growing.<\/p>\n

The new lawmakers\u2019 letter urges Disney CEO Bob Chapek to clarify the Chinese government\u2019s role in the film\u2019s production, Entertainment Weekly reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cDisney\u2019s app<\/a>arent cooperation with officials of the People\u2019s Republic of China (PRC) who are most responsible for committing atrocities \u2014 or for covering up those crimes \u2014 is profoundly disturbing,\u201d lawmakers wrote in their letter to Disney.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
