Sheff G has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder.<\/p>\n
The Brooklyn rapp<\/a>er (real name Michael Williams) was initially looking at a 20-year stretch, but the judge instead sentenced him on Wednesday (March 26) to five years behind bars with a further five years of supervised release.<\/p>\n AD LOADING…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said of the case\u2019s conclusion<\/a>: \u201cNotoriety could not shield this defendant from justice. He used his fame to fund and direct violence, terrorizing our streets, and though we sought a much longer sentence, he will now be held to account.<\/p>\n \u201cBrooklyn will not tolerate gangs that endanger our communities, and we remain committed to dismantling these criminal networks and holding those responsible fully accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n Sheff G is alleged to be a member of the 8 Trey Crips and was among 32 people charged in a 140-count indictment in 2023, which also named fellow rapper Sleepy Hallow.<\/p>\n Prosecutors claimed that the 26-year-old was behind a 2020 shooting that left one man dead and and five others injured.<\/p>\n It is alleged that the rapper planned the attack and celebrated afterwards with a steak dinner in Manhattan.<\/p>\n Sheff is also accused of funding gang activity \u201cby offering money and giving expensive jewelry to those who committed acts of violence,\u201d using funds obtained through his music career.<\/p>\n He has yet to comment on his plea deal or subsequent sentence.<\/p>\n Sheff was initially arrested in May 2023 and spent just under a year behind bars before finally securing his release on bail last April.<\/p>\n At the time, he celebrated paying the hefty bail by writing on Instagram: \u201c10 MILL BOND, 1.5 MILL CASH BAIL WAS THE TICKET!! BAIL PAID SAME DAY ARE YOU DUMB, SHEFF G BACK NEW YORK WE FUCKING LITTTTT THEY COUNTED ME OUT THEY THOUGHT I WAS DONE, PEACE AND LOVE TO YALL LOL ( WINNERSCIRCLE IM W THE STARS BABY.
