\n\tBill Maher got straight to the big news<\/a> of the week during the latest episode of HBO\u2019s Real Time<\/em>: \u201cThe first real, true big scandal of the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe host kicked off the show, mocking the scandal, which saw the highest-ranking national security officials inadvertently add the editor-in-chief of\u00a0The Atlantic\u00a0<\/em>magazine to a Signal group text chain in which leaders discussed plans for an airstrike in Yemen.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe entire national security team was on a group chat,\u201d Maher told the audience during his opening monologue. \u201cYou know, the Houthis in Yemen have been attacking the shipping lanes, so maybe they do need a good bombing. So the entire national security team, I\u2019m talking about the secretary of defense, the vice president, the head of the CIA, Department of Homeland Security, all these people are on this group chat on Signal, which is safer than a normal [messaging service], but I have it. It\u2019s not like it\u2019s super secure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo they\u2019re on this group chat, the defense team, and they loop in a reporter who they say was in some guy\u2019s contact list,\u201d the comedia<\/a>n continued before quipping, \u201cSo today, every teenager in America is saying, \u2018And you\u2019re worried about our screen time?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMaher went on to tease the national security leaders for handling highly classified information so casually and loosely over text.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAgain, this is our defense team, the national security people, the adults, and they\u2019re all using emojis. You know, flames and biceps and fist bumps,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat were they gonna do if the mission failed? Poop emoji, facepalm [emoji].\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYes, thank God we got rid of Sleepy Joe [Biden] and the adults are back in charge,\u201d the host joked. \u201cMr. Vice President, you\u2019re gonna want to see this. It\u2019s a picture of my dick.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMaher then shared in reaction to President Donald Trump later claiming the information on the Signal text chain \u201cwas nothing classified\u201d and \u201cweren\u2019t war plans, they were attack plans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBitch, please,\u201d Maher said in response. \u201cCome on, man. Nobody has been fired over this, and every D-lister in Hollywood is like, \u2018Where was this mercy when I was on The App<\/a>rentice<\/em>?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDays after the leak was revealed, The Atlantic<\/em> released the text messages that included the attack plans on Houthi rebels in Yemen.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe guests featured on the latest episode of Real Time <\/em>were California Gov. Gavin Newsom, American linguist John McWhorter and political commentator Rikki Schlott.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
