Keeping track of the latest ones can be overwhelming.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adding to the confusion is that AI models are often promoted based on industry benchmarks. But these technical metrics often reveal little about how real people and companies actually use them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To cut through the noise, TechCrunch has compiled an overview of the most advanced AI models released since 2024, with details on how to use them and what they\u2019re best for. We\u2019ll keep this list updated with the latest launches, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are literally over a million AI models out there: Hugging Face, for example, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/huggingface.co\/models\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">hosts over 1.4 million<\/a>. So this list might miss some models that perform better, in one way or another.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ai-models-released-in-2025\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"AI_models_released_in_2025\"><\/span>AI models released in 2025<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-google-gemini-2-5\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Google_Gemini_25\"><\/span>Google Gemini 2.5 <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental, a reasoning model, excels at building web apps and code agents according to Google. It underperforms on one popular coding benchmark compared to Claude Sonnet 3.7, however. The model requires a $20 monthly Gemini Advanced sub<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-chatgpt-4o-image-generator\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ChatGPT-4o_image_generator\"><\/span>ChatGPT-4o image generator<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI has upgraded its existing GPT-4o model to generate images, not just text. The souped-up model soon went viral for transforming images into Studio Ghibli-style <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/anime-manga\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"6\" title=\"Anime || Manga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anime<\/a>, despite obvious copyright concerns. Accessing GPT-4o requires, at minimum, a $20 per month ChatGPT Plus subscription.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-stability-ai-s-stable-virtual-camera\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Stability_AIs_Stable_Virtual_Camera\"><\/span>Stability AI\u2019s Stable Virtual Camera<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Image generation startup Stability AI has launched a model that the company says can generate 3D scenes and camera angles from a single 2D image. However, it still struggles with scenes featuring more complex elements like humans and moving water. The model is available for noncommercial research use on HuggingFace.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cohere-s-aya-vision\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Coheres_Aya_Vision\"><\/span>Cohere\u2019s Aya Vision<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cohere released a multimodal model called Aya Vision that it claims is best in class at doing things like captioning images and answering questions about photos. It also excels in languages other than English, unlike other models, Cohere claims. It is available for <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cohere.com\/research\/aya\/whatsapp?ref=cohere-ai.ghost.io\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">free on WhatsApp<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-openai-s-gpt-4-5-orion\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"OpenAIs_GPT_45_%E2%80%9COrion%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>OpenAI\u2019s GPT 4.5 \u201cOrion\u201d<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI calls Orion their largest model to date, touting its strong \u201cworld knowledge\u201d and \u201cemotional intelligence.\u201d However, it underperforms on certain benchmarks compared to newer reasoning models. Orion is available to subscribers of OpenAI\u2019s $200-per-month plan.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-claude-sonnet-3-7\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Claude_Sonnet_37\"><\/span>Claude Sonnet 3.7<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anthropic says this is the industry\u2019s first \u201chybrid\u201d reasoning model, because it can both fire off quick answers and really think things through when needed. It also gives users control over how long the model can think for, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.anthropic.com\/news\/claude-3-7-sonnet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">per Anthropic<\/a>. Sonnet 3.7 is available to all Claude users, but heavier users will need a $20-per-month Pro plan.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-xai-s-grok-3\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"xAIs_Grok_3\"><\/span>xAI\u2019s Grok 3<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grok 3 is the latest flagship model from Elon Musk-founded startup xAI. It\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/grok\/status\/1891793693020991658\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">claimed to<\/a> outperform other leading models on math, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a>, and coding. The model requires X Premium (which is $50 per month.) After one study <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/fast-forward-elon-musk-grok-political-bias-chatbot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">found<\/a> Grok 2 leaned left, Musk <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/elon-musk-vows-to-make-xai-chatbot-grok-politically-neutral-2023-12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">pledged<\/a> to shift Grok more \u201cpolitically neutral\u201d but it\u2019s not yet clear if that\u2019s been achieved.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-openai-o3-mini\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"OpenAI_o3-mini\"><\/span>OpenAI o3-mini<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is OpenAI\u2019s latest reasoning model and is optimized for STEM-related tasks like coding, math, and science. It\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/openai-o3-mini\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">not OpenAI\u2019s most powerful<\/a> model but because it\u2019s smaller, the company <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/openai-o3-mini\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">says<\/a> it\u2019s significantly lower cost. It is available for free but requires a subscription for heavy users.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-openai-deep-research\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"OpenAI_Deep_Research\"><\/span>OpenAI Deep Research<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI\u2019s Deep Research is designed for doing in-depth research on a topic with clear citations. This service is only available with ChatGPT\u2019s $200-per-month Pro subscription. OpenAI <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/help.openai.com\/en\/articles\/10500283-deep-research-faq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">recommends it<\/a> for everything from science to shopping research, but beware that hallucinations remain a problem for AI.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mistral-le-chat\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mistral_Le_Chat\"><\/span>Mistral Le Chat<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mistral has launched app versions of Le Chat, a multimodal AI personal assistant. Mistral <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mistral.ai\/en\/news\/all-new-le-chat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">claims<\/a> Le Chat responds faster than any other chatbot. It also has a paid version with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/en\/pixels\/article\/2024\/03\/01\/we-tested-le-chat-mistral-ai-s-french-style-chatgpt_6576433_13.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">up-to-date journalism<\/a> from the AFP. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/en\/pixels\/article\/2024\/03\/01\/we-tested-le-chat-mistral-ai-s-french-style-chatgpt_6576433_13.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Tests from Le Monde<\/a> found Le Chat\u2019s performance impressive, although it made more errors than ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-openai-operator\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"OpenAI_Operator\"><\/span>OpenAI Operator<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI\u2019s Operator is meant to be a personal intern that can do things independently, like help you buy groceries. It requires a $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro subscription. AI agents hold a lot of promise, but they\u2019re still experimental: A Washington Post reviewer <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2025\/02\/07\/openai-operator-ai-agent-chatgpt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">says Operator<\/a> decided on its own to order a dozen eggs for $31, paid with the reviewer\u2019s credit card.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-google-gemini-2-0-pro-experimental\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Google_Gemini_20_Pro_Experimental\"><\/span>Google Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google Gemini\u2019s much-awaited flagship model says it excels at coding and understanding <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> knowledge. It also has a super-long context window of 2 million tokens, helping users who need to quickly process massive chunks of text.
