Barbershop \u2013 Day,\u201d which plays out like a barbershop debate between staff and customers, touches on his so-called \u201ccancelation\u201d following his violent Oscars outburst.<\/p>\n<p>Smith previously revealed that JAY-Z inspired the title of the album.<\/p>\n<p>He said in an interview with <em>Sway in the Morning<\/em>: \u201cBefore I started [the album], I made two phone calls. I talked to Jay and I talked to Kendrick. I said, \u2018Hey, I want to get back to music. What\u2019s the advice?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJay said, \u2018Don\u2019t fake your story. You gotta say what\u2019s true for you. You\u2019ll be looking at the younger rappers and you want that to be true for you, but you don\u2019t live like that.\u2019 He was like, \u2018Be true to your story. Tell your story.\u2019 And that\u2019s where I got the\u00a0<em>Based on a True Story<\/em>, from Jay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Bad Boys<\/em> star then recalled Kendrick\u2019s advice: \u201cKendrick, he paused and said, \u2018Man, just say that shit you\u2019ve always been fucking scared to say.\u2019 It was basically the same thing.
