Akademiks has spoken up in support of Kanye West, arguing that some of the things he said in their recent interview aren\u2019t entirely off base.<\/p>\n
The media<\/a> personality, who is no stranger to controversy himself, has interviewed Kanye twice in the last week \u2014 with their first chat seeing the Chicago rap legend wear a Ku Klux Klan outfit and take aim at a number of rapp<\/a>ers, as well as his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.<\/p>\n AD LOADING…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Speaking to TMZ<\/em> about his newfound association with Ye, Ak claimed that there are kernels of truth buried in the rapper\u2019s inflammatory rants.<\/p>\n \u201cHe gave me a heads up about and I read the text wrong at first. It was like, \u2018I\u2019m wearing my black outfit\u2019 and I was like, well, black\u2019s my favorite color. I\u2019m thinking he\u2019s just gonna wear all black,\u201d he said of their viral interview.<\/p>\n \u201cThen I read it again and it was like, \u2018I\u2019m wearing my black KKK outfit.\u2019 I tried to at least start the conversation by saying, \u2018Why this representation?\u2019 It\u2019s hard to ignore the obvious. He\u2019s sending very strong signals \u2014 you know, he\u2019s walking around with a swastika chain.\u201d<\/p>\n The Off the Record<\/em> host added: \u201cHaving conversations with him on camera and even off camera, even if you disagree, he is making some coherent points.\u201d<\/p>\n Akademiks did not specify which of Kanye\u2019s remarks he found coherent.<\/p>\n The pair\u2019s initial interview, held in an L.A. hotel room last weekend, saw the G.O.O.D. Music founder go off on the likes of JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Frank Ocean, among many others.<\/p>\n He said of his former Watch the Throne<\/em> collaborator: \u201cJAY-Z, Beyonc\u00e9, you ain\u2019t help me when I was having problems with my kids. You could have used your influence. No, your influence is for politics. Your influence is how you could use a n-gga you never wanted to sign anyway that Dame signed. You ain\u2019t show up to my first wedding. You ain\u2019t my family. I never had family out here.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cEverybody knows what I\u2019m saying is true related to that photo that I put up with my youngest daughter, but everything is like, \u2018But you offended JAY-Z.\u2019 Fuck him! How much money you think JAY-Z makes off my catalog versus what I make off it? God hurts too. It hurt me that I had to hurt Jay.\u201d<\/p>\n West then tore into Kendrick, saying: \u201cI want Kendrick to always remember that JAY-Z tweet before he ever crosses the line,\u201d referencing his widely-condemned attack on Hov and Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s youngest children.<\/p>\n Ye also accused the Compton rap star of biting his style: \u201cThe last Kendrick album, not that [GNX<\/em>] but the previous one [Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers<\/em>], is like a direct copy of [The Life of] Pablo<\/em>. It\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, these are the drums from this song.
