\n\tAnne-Marie Duff (Bad Sisters<\/em>) is really happ<\/a>y that her latest project, the\u00a0revenge thriller series<\/a>\u00a0Reunion<\/em><\/a>, set in the deaf community and debuting in the U.K. on Monday, is airing on public broadcaster BBC and its iPlayer streaming service. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s the BBC, so you know, it\u2019s going to be seen by everyone, not just people who can afford to pay streaming fees. That\u2019s important because watching TV has become quite an expensive hobby now. And just the idea, always and ever, that what we do can be important and that there\u2019s a point to it, and anyone who feels marginalized gets to see themselves is a huge relief.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe four-part drama, starring Matthew Gurney as a deaf man who gets to leave prison after years of incarceration,\u00a0Lara Peake,\u00a0Eddie Marsan\u00a0and\u00a0Rose Ayling-Ellis, was written by Sheffield-born deaf writer\u00a0William Mager\u00a0and produced by Sheffield-based Warp Films, the production firm behind\u00a0Netflix hit drama\u00a0Adolescence<\/em>. The bilingual series, filmed in and around Sheffield, features both British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken English.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe\u00a0BBC will start airing\u00a0the show on Monday evening on its flagship network, BBC One, while the entire series is now available on the iPlayer.\u00a0BBC Studios\u00a0is selling the series internationally after unveiling a\u00a0selection of photos in February.<\/p>\n

\n\tReunion<\/em>, whose set\u00a0THR<\/em>\u00a0visited last year\u00a0to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the inclusive production, such as hearing crewmembers being taught a word or phrase in BSL at the start of each filming day, is a redemption thriller following the journey of Daniel Brennan, played by Gurney (Name Me Lawand<\/em>), a deaf man determined to right wrongs after leaving prison. Caught between two worlds, he is unable to fully integrate into the hearing world and is also shunned by his closest friends and the wider deaf community.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAmidst this isolation, Brennan\u2019s only meaningful relationship is with his estranged daughter Carly, played by Lara Peake (How to Have Sex<\/em>,\u00a0Rivals<\/em>), who he has not had any contact with since his arrest over a decade ago,\u201d according to a synopsis. \u201cAnne-Marie Duff\u00a0(Bad Sisters<\/em>,\u00a0The Salisbury Poisonings<\/em>) stars as Christine, desperate to find Brennan and get to the full truth behind what he did, alongside\u00a0Eddie Marsan\u00a0(Back to Black<\/em>,\u00a0Ray Donovan<\/em>) as Stephen Renworth, Christine\u2019s protective boyfriend, while\u00a0Rose Ayling-Ellis\u00a0(Summer of Rockets<\/em>,\u00a0As You Like<\/em>\u00a0It<\/em>) plays her daughter, Miri.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe hour-long episodes of\u00a0Reunion<\/em>\u00a0were directed by Luke Snellin (One Day<\/em>,\u00a0Wanderlust<\/em>) who also served as executive producer, with Helen Ostler (The Last Kingdom<\/em>,\u00a0Crime<\/em>) as producer, and Siobhan Morgan (Waterloo Road<\/em>,\u00a0Hollyoaks<\/em>) as associate producer. Mark Herbert (Four Lions<\/em>,\u00a0The Virtues<\/em>,\u00a0This Is England<\/em>) and Gwen Gorst (Unforgotten<\/em>,\u00a0A Discovery of Witches<\/em>) are executive producers for Warp Films, alongside creator and writer Mager, with Rebecca Ferguson and Jo McClellan serving in those roles for the BBC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
