\n\tJason Isaacs\u2018 stay at The White Lotus<\/em> is over, but the drama between Duke University and the HBO show still lingers. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the sixth episode, when Issacs\u2019 character Timothy Ratliff contemplates suicide with a gun, he\u2019s wearing a T-shirt with his alma mater, Duke\u2019s logo on it. The University wasn\u2019t pleased with the publicity and its vice president for communications, Frank Tremble, shared a statement to the New York Times<\/em> to condemn it. \u201cThe White Lotus<\/em>\u00a0not only uses our brand without permission, but in our view uses it on imagery that is troubling, does not reflect our values or who we are and simply goes too far.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite the controversy, a few weeks later, at the finale screening for the series<\/a>, Isaacs wore another Duke T-shirt, but this time with the school\u2019s Blue Devil mascot on it. During a recent app<\/a>earance on the Prestige Junkie<\/a><\/em> podcast, Isaacs admits he bought the shirt after his flight was canceled and had no other clothes. \u201cI found the whole thing faintly amusing,\u201d he said about the feud. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t like anyone getting upset about anything, but clearly, it was just someone fancying seeing their name online and, in some department, wanting to go viral,\u201d Isaacs continued. \u201cTheir real-life alumni are such a rogue\u2019s gallery, many of them, that the notion that this rather spiritually enlightened character on television caused them any trouble is fanciful and ridiculous.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tWhile some students were also upset with the use of their school\u2019s logo, Alex Berkman, a Duke sophomore, told THR<\/em>,<\/em> \u201cTo me, it\u2019s never that serious. It\u2019s television \u2014 it\u2019s really high-quality television.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
