But not in the way people think. That\u2019s a song I actually didn\u2019t write. Those are not my words.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hilson discussed her initial reaction to the lyric, which as penned by Ester Dean: \u201cAutomatically, I was like, \u2018I\u2019m not saying that.\u2019 That was my position. I\u2019m an athlete. I am competitive. But I\u2019m not nasty, I\u2019m a finesse player. But he \u2014 I want to be careful with the word I use \u2014 it was quite forceful\u2026 The mistake that I made was not continuing to fight. I was super young. I felt I had no choice. I\u2019m still protecting everyone involved. I\u2019ve been eating that for years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since Hilson\u2019s comments, Dean has also come forward and apologized for the lyric.<\/p>\n<p>She wrote on Instagram: \u201cI see how it hurt people, especially women, and I take full accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2021, Hilson revealed that she and Bey had a conversation about the song:\u201c I feel like she understood what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened, what had transpired and there was a bit of healing in that moment when we met. I take her as a very intuitive kind of soul, as am I. She\u2019s amazing.
