This lawsuit could potentially lower Google\u2019s artificially inflated search advertising prices if successful, affecting marketing budgets and ROI calculations.<\/p>\n<p>The case highlights how Google\u2019s alleged anticompetitive practices have created a situation where businesses have \u201calmost no choice\u201d but to advertise on its platform despite potentially paying higher rates than would exist in a truly competitive market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What they\u2019re saying.<\/strong> \u201cUK businesses and organisations, big or small, have almost no choice but to use Google ads to advertise their products and services,\u201d Brook said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Google dismissed the case as \u201cspeculative and opportunistic\u201d and plans to \u201cargue against it vigorously,\u201d adding that \u201cconsumers and advertisers use Google because it\u2019s helpful, not because there are no alternatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dig deeper.
