\n\tIt\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia<\/em> is set to return to FXX for its 17th season on July 9 and with it will come the second and final crossover episode with ABC\u2018s Abbott Elementary<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe gang from Paddy\u2019s Pub app<\/a>eared in season four of Abbott<\/em> earlier this year, in episode nine titled \u201cVolunteers,\u201d in which they spent a day attempting to help out around the elementary school to earn credit toward their court-ordered community service requirement \u2014 a highly plausible plot line for the mischievous bunch. <\/p>\n

\n\tNow in the newest season of It\u2019s Always Sunny<\/em>, \u201cThe Gang Embraces The Corporate Era,\u201d audiences will see how Janine (Quinta Brunson), Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) and the rest of the teachers at Abbott fit in on the other side of town, as the long-running comedy explores the ways in which greed and the New American Dream have consumed Paddy\u2019s Pub.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey represent a part of South Philly, and we represent a part of West Philly that is very real, and it wasn\u2019t a long walk for these characters to interact,\u201d Brunson previously told THR<\/em> <\/em>of executing the crossover episodes. \u201cIt just made sense immedia<\/a>tely. And when it came to us that easy, we were like, \u2018Yeah, we have to do this.\u2019 \u2026\u00a0Charlie [Day]\u00a0and Rob [McElhenney] came into the room with us one day, they were wonderful, just excellent, excellent collaborators. I can\u2019t say enough kind words about them. We had a ball. We\u2019ve been having a ball on set. They\u2019re just a delight to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDay initially was a bit hesitant about pulling off two episodes, but once he met with Brunson and the writer\u2019s room, he began to see the vision, he previously admitted to THR<\/em>. \u201cI knew that them coming on our show, we could make it funny, but I was a little nervous about what they would do with our characters because I\u2019ve been writing these guys for 20 years; I\u2019m pretty precious about it. But once I just sort of gave in and said, \u2018Okay, you\u2019re right. It could be really exciting,\u2019 from then on out, it was just a fantastic experience from beginning to end.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSeason 17 of It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia<\/em> will premiere with the first two episodes on July 9 at 9 p.m. ET\/PT on FXX, with episodes streaming next day on Hulu.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
