\n Perhaps unsurprisingly for one of reality TV\u2019s most divisive stars, insiders are even arguing about how Denise Richards exited \u201cThe Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bravo insiders told Page Six that Richards demanded too much money to re-up her contract \u2014 while sources close to Richards insist that she was so over the show that she told the network she was hitting the road without even giving them the chance to negotiate.<\/p>\n

A source tells us that the truth is that the actress asked for an \u201cexcessive\u201d amount of money to return to the show for a third season \u2014 and the network wouldn\u2019t cough up the cash.<\/p>\n

An insider told us, \u201cPeople think that she didn\u2019t want to come back and that it\u2019s because she got \u2018mean-girled\u2019 [by other cast members]. The truth is she did want to come back. But [Bravo] didn\u2019t want to pay her what she asked for. It was way out of her pay grade.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sources in Richards\u2019 camp say that she loved her first season on the show, but had a \u201crough\u201d second season battling with seemingly all of her co-stars, plus former \u201cHousewife\u201d Brandi Glanville.<\/p>\n

\u201cBravo called her last week to ask her if she wanted to return, and she took a couple of days to think about it,\u201d they said, adding that by Wednesday her agent had let Bravo know she had decided to call it quits \u2014 and that was the end of the story.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the first source called that version of events nonsense and said, \u201cShe would happ<\/a>ily have come back, but for a huge price.\u201d<\/p>\n

They added that Bravo executives \u201cnegotiated a lot\u201d with the \u201cStarship Troopers\u201d actress, but there was a big gulf between what she wanted and what the network was willing to pay.<\/p>\n

Reps for Bravo and Richards declined to comment.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s the second high-profile co-star to exit in recent weeks, after Dorinda Medley left \u201cThe Real Housewives of New York City.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
