\n\tLegendary\u2018s Pacific Rim<\/em> series<\/a> has landed at Amazon MGM Studios. The two studios will adapt the IP together (with Legendary in first position) for Amazon\u2019s Prime Video streaming service.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Pacific Rim<\/em> TV project, currently in development, is the first from Legendary\u2019s first-look television deal with Eric Heisserer and his Chronology banner. Heisserer will write and executive produce the series.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Pacific Rim<\/em> universe first launched in 2013 with the Guillermo del Toro-directed feature film of the same name. The title has since expanded into animated television (Pacific Rim: The Black<\/em>), comic books, novels, gaming and toys. In 2018, Steve S. DeKnight wrote and directed a second feature film in the franchise: Pacific Rim: Uprising<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe original Pacific Rim<\/em> starred Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman. Together, they fought an ongoing war between humankind and monstrous sea creatures. Victory was not enough, we guess, since the fight raged on just five years later in Uprising <\/em>with John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny and Burn Gorman. Boyega played the son of Elba\u2019s character for the OG film; Kikuchi, Day and Gorman reprised their roles.<\/p>\n

\n\tPacific Rim: Uprising<\/em> marked DeKnight\u2019s debut as both a feature writer and director. DeKnight makes all the Spartacus<\/em> stuff for Starz.<\/p>\n

\n\tHeisserer most recently served as the showrunner, executive producer and writer of the Netflix fantasy series\u00a0Shadow and Bone<\/em>, which is based on Leigh Bardugo\u2019s worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels. Previously, he wrote the Denis Villeneuve-directed sci-fi thriller Arrival<\/em> starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay as well as WGA and Critics\u2019 Choice Awards in the same category. He also wrote Netflix thriller Bird Box<\/em> starring Sandra Bullock.<\/p>\n

\n\tLegendary Television and Amazon MGM Studios are also in development on a Murdle<\/em> series, a script<\/a>ed adaptation of G. T. Karber\u2019s collection of murder-mystery puzzles. Legendary Television is also behind current series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters<\/em>\u00a0(for Apple TV+),\u00a0Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft<\/em>\u00a0(Netflix),\u00a0Dune: Prophecy<\/em>\u00a0(HBO\/Max), Drops of God<\/em>\u00a0(Apple TV+), Vanda<\/em> (Hulu) and You Would Do It Too<\/em>\u00a0(Disney+ and Apple TV+).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
