That\u2019s nearly 4x growth from the prior six-month stretch, when it reported having 11.2 million users.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why we care.<\/strong> Brands and businesses need to understand how (or whether) their content is being surfaced in AI-generated responses. ChatGPT search is nowhere near replacing Google Search, but it is an emerging channel for visibility and discoverability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What ChatGPT reported.<\/strong> According to OpenAI\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/help.openai.com\/en\/articles\/8959649-eu-digital-services-act-dsa#h_8cfc7badaa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU Digital Services Act (DSA) page<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cFor the six-month period ending 31 March 2025, ChatGPT search had in combination <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roximately 41.3 million average monthly active recipients in the European Union.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is a recipient.<\/strong> The EU counts a \u201cmonthly active recipient\u201d as the number of unique users who engage with an online platform at least once.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yes, but.<\/strong> Google still dominates search. According to Google\u2019s DSA Disclosure report, Google Search had:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>355.7 million<\/strong> average monthly signed-in recipients.<\/li>\n<li><strong>424.4 million<\/strong> average monthly signed-out recipients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That means, in the EU, Google Search (signed in and out) is nearly 20x bigger than ChatGPT search.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dig deeper. Google Search is 373x bigger than ChatGPT search<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s next for OpenAI. <\/strong>ChatGPT search is approaching the EU\u2019s threshold for a \u201cvery large online platform\u201d under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
