\n\tFox is mounting its own entry into the burgeoning subgenre of unscript<\/a>ed TV that involves people playing a game<\/a>, some of whom are secretly working to control the rest of the group.<\/p>\n

\n\tShorter version: Fox is doing its take on The Traitors<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe network\u2019s show is called The Snake<\/em>, and like its titular animal it contains a number of twists and turns (more on that in a couple of paragraphs). Comedia<\/a>n Jim Jefferies will host the series<\/a>, which comes from Jersey Shore<\/em> creator SallyAnn Salsano. It\u2019s set to premiere in the summer. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSallyAnn brings her uniquely original voice to Fox with this fresh take on the strategy competition series and a universally appealing concept that will captivate audiences,\u201d said Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn in a statement. \u201cTrust me \u2014\u00a0The Snake<\/em>\u00a0lives up to its name.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFox is calling The Snake<\/em> a \u201csocial survival of the fittest\u201d competition. It will feature 15 players who work in \u201cvarious persuasive professions.\u201d Here\u2019s how the network describes the game: \u201cEach contestant must leverage their unique skills, training and powers of persuasion as they face a multitude of challenges designed to showcase the traits needed to be successful in the game. The winner of each challenge becomes The Snake, earning control of The Saving Ceremony, an explosive, chain reaction elimination where it\u2019s not about who wants you gone, but who is willing to save you.\u00a0The Snake<\/em>\u00a0doesn\u2019t just hinge on winning challenges \u2014 it\u2019s about winning people over.\u00a0The social aspect of the game never stops \u2014 connections are everything\u00a0whether\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0making friends, faking friends, or sparking romantic connections.\u00a0Promises are put to the test during the Saving Ceremony as players do everything in their power to avoid being picked last by The Snake, hoping to escape elimination.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe winner will get a $100,000 prize. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be hosting\u00a0The Snake<\/em>, a show about making friends and faking friends,\u201d said Jefferies. \u201cI\u2019ve been training for this job my whole life. Growing up In Australia, and now living in Hollywood, I\u2019ve been around plenty of snakes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Snake<\/em> joins fellow Traitors<\/em>-esque shows The Trust<\/em> and Million Dollar Secret<\/em> at Netflix. The O.G. of the subgenre is The Mole<\/em>, which first aired on ABC in the early 2000s and was revived at Netflix three years ago.<\/p>\n

\n\tFox Entertainment owns The Snake<\/em>. Salsano\u2019s 495 Productions is producing the series; Salsano is the showrunner and executive produces with Frank Miccolis and Kim Green.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
