The answer seems to be yes, based on internal OpenAI documents. <\/p>\n<p>OpenAI <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears to forecast a billion dollars in new revenue from \u201cfree user monetization\u201d in 2026. The ability for advertisers to reach ChatGPT\u2019s users represents a significant new opportunity. But converting ChatGPT into an ad-supported product will also be a huge shift.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yes, but.<\/strong> This seems like a reversal from past statements made by Open AI executives. In December, OpenAI\u2019s Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar said:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cOur current business is experiencing rapid growth and we see significant opportunities within our existing business model. While we\u2019re open to exploring other revenue streams in the future, we have no active plans to pursue advertising.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also previously said during a podcast interview with Lex Fridman, \u201cI kind of hate ads,\u201d adding that he believed OpenAI could pay for its computational needs without resorting to ads:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cI kind of hate ads just as an aesthetic choice. I think ads needed to happen on the internet for a bunch of reasons, to get it going, but it\u2019s a momentary industry. The world is richer now. I like that people pay for ChatGPT and know that the answers they\u2019re getting are not influenced by advertisers. I\u2019m sure there\u2019s an ad unit that makes sense for LLMs, and I\u2019m sure there\u2019s a way to participate in the transaction stream in an unbiased way that is okay to do, but it\u2019s also easy to think about the dystopic visions of the future where you ask ChatGPT something and it says, \u2018Oh, you should think about buying this product,\u2019 or, \u2018You should think about going here for your vacation,\u2019 or whatever.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAnd I don\u2019t know, we have a very simple business model and I like it, and I know that I\u2019m not the product. I know I\u2019m paying and that\u2019s how the business model works.
