Have you ever wondered, \u201cWhy doesn\u2019t my umbrella look like a shield from the Gundam series<\/a>?\u201d Well, someone evidently did, because five Gundam Shield foldable umbrellas have made their debut in Japan today, on April 25 JST.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each of the five designs cost 6,930 yen with tax-included, or around US$48.25.\u00a0Four are inspired by Mobile Suit Gundam<\/em> \u2014 one is made to look like the RX-78-2\u2019s shield \u2014 while the fifth is the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM<\/em> Beam Shield Umbrella.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Of the OG series-inspired designs, aside from the\u00a0RX-78-2 shield, the inspirations are the Gouf, the Zeon Earth Attack Force, and Char\u2019s Zaku.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While most of the eye candy is on the umbrellas\u2019 top surface, there are icons on the handles\u2019 base and on the sleeves to provide them with some Gundam identity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Gundam Shield umbrellas are currently available on Premium Bandai Japan. Their dimensions are 92cm\u00d7126cm, while the materials are polyester for the fabric and fibreglass for the frame.<\/span><\/p>\n
