Lionsgate has recently announced that Guadagnino is attached to helm a new take on the book with a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a> from Scott Z. Burns, and the director himself appeared via video at CinemaCon earlier this month to tease the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cOn one hand, I am always sad about remakes,\u201d says actor Matt Ross, who plays a co-worker of Bateman\u2019s in the 2000 feature and also works as a filmmaker. \u201cI personally have been offered them in the past as a director, and I\u2019ve been very reticent to engage in that because it always feels like just mercenary capitalism and nothing else.\u201d For its part, Lionsgate has noted that Guadagnino\u2019s project is aiming to offer a new vision of the book, rather than remaking the movie. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tRoss goes on to call Guadagnino \u201ca wonderful filmmaker\u201d and acknowledges that having the new movie use the book as source material suggests that it could be approached in the way that Shakespearean productions empower new generations of actors to tackle juicy roles. \u201cThat still feels like a business venture more than anything else, but being that it\u2019s based on a book, there can be multiple interpretations, so why not?\u201d Ross continues. \u201cI think they have their work cut out for them, for no other reason than Christian\u2019s performance is exceptional.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tChris Hanley, who produced the 2000 movie, notes that revisiting popular intellectual property is the name of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> in Hollywood. After all, Hanley points out that he is still hoping to do a follow-up to <em>Spring Breakers<\/em>, the 2012 crime film to which he holds the rights, despite director Harmony Korine not wanting to be involved. \u201cEverybody\u2019s calling me, going like, \u2018How stupid to make [<em>American Psycho<\/em>],&#8217;\u201d Hanley says. \u201cI\u2019m not like that.\u201d He adds, \u201cLuca is a great director. He\u2019s never made a bad movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDuring his CinemaCon video segment, Guadagnino shared that Ellis\u2019 1991 book is one \u201cthat I deeply love, that is something that influenced me so much.\u201d The filmmaker behind such projects as <em>Queer<\/em> and <em>Challengers<\/em> also teased, \u201cThe script is coming out very handsomely.\u201d There was no mention of any casting choices, although rumors circulated late last year about Austin Butler being eyed for the lead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCasting director Kerry Barden, who worked on the 2000 film, sees Butler as potentially a better fit for the role of Paul Allen, who was played by Jared Leto in Harron\u2019s movie. \u201cI would cast Austin in Jared\u2019s role because he\u2019s that beautiful, and that\u2019s why we cast Jared, is because he\u2019s that beautiful,\u201d Barden says. \u201cJared is certainly a great actor as well, and obviously, Austin has a lot of depth as an actor, too. But not every person has that kind of beauty.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAlessandro Camon, who co-produced the Bale-led movie, is aligned with his former colleagues in respecting Guadagnino\u2019s artistry and being curious about his plan. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a big challenge when anybody remakes a movie that is iconic or takes on a role that is iconic,\u201d says Camon. \u201cBut sometimes for actors, that is also exciting.
