\n The Republican National Committee said Thursday that Jacksonville, Florida will be the site of their 2020 convention after backing out of Charlotte, North Carolina over coronavirus restrictions.<\/p>\n

RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said that the decision was made after Charlotte, the original host of this summer\u2019s convention, balked at promising Trump an event free from social<\/a> distancing measures.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to hold @realDonaldTrump\u2019s acceptance of the Republican nomination in the great city of Jacksonville!\u201d McDaniel tweeted. \u201cNot only is Florida his home state, it is crucial to victory.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump changed his home address from Manhattan to Palm Beach, Fla. last year.<\/p>\n

The RNC has spent the last week scouting locations after Gov. Roy Cooper, D-N.C., rejected Trump\u2019s demand that the convention be allowed to take place Aug. 24-27 without the coronavirus measures.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe governor doesn\u2019t want to give an inch, and what he\u2019s doing is losing hundreds of millions of dollars for his state,\u201d Trump said Wednesday at the White House.<\/p>\n

He told reporters that many states have volunteered to host, including Texas, Georgia and Florida.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019re going to probably end up giving you an announcement pretty soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
