\n\tFlorence Pugh doesn\u2019t understand why actresses are also expected to be models.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Oscar-nominated actress opened up during a recent Who What Wear <\/a><\/em>cover story about how the expectations in Hollywood have changed, such as reports of needing a high social media<\/a> follower count for auditions and how actors can\u2019t just work as actors.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s so shit,\u201d Pugh said. \u201cIt\u2019s not the same thing. It\u2019s not the same thing at all. I had this conversation recently with a friend. \u2026 It\u2019s just mental that red carpets are even an expectancy of someone that is not\u2026 That\u2019s not even their job. \u2026 They\u00a0don\u2019t<\/em>\u00a0model. They are good at being on a camera that is\u00a0this<\/em>\u00a0close with\u00a0that<\/em>\u00a0face, and they know how to show how raw their soul is on the flick of a switch.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0<\/em>their talent. Their talent isn\u2019t anything beyond that. I mean, it might be, but that\u2019s what they\u2019re getting paid to do, and that\u2019s what we recognize them for. And you\u2019re supposed to be able to be like a runway model, and you\u2019re\u00a0compared against<\/em>\u00a0runway models.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Thunderbolts* <\/em>star speaks from experience, going from feeling \u201cso self-conscious in the clothes\u201d during photoshoots to eventually learning what works best for her body type and advocating for herself on set.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOnce you do, you know, shoot after shoot after shoot, you get better, and you get more confidence,\u201d she explained. \u201cYou see the pictures, and you see the work, and you\u2019re like, \u2018Okay,\u00a0that<\/em>\u00a0looks great. I\u2019m going to now make sure that I know how to argue when a certain piece of clothing isn\u2019t working.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen asked if modeling is similar to taking on a role, Pugh said it\u2019s quite the opposite. \u201cIt\u2019s so exposing because it\u2019s\u00a0you<\/em>\u00a0being beautiful, which is like everybody\u2019s inner hell,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

\n\tOver time, having been in the industry for more than a decade and starred in numerous projects such as Dune: Part Two<\/em>, We Live in Time<\/em>, Oppenheimer<\/em> and Don\u2019t Worry Darling<\/em>, Pugh has learned to make the most out of every moment, while still reminding herself what she\u2019s there to do. <\/p>\n

\n\tShe added, \u201cIf I\u2019m disapp<\/a>ointed about how something turned out or looked or if someone\u2019s saying something nasty about the dress that I was wearing or if I was a bit too heavy for the dress or a bit too this or that or whatever shit someone wanted to say to me, I have to be like, \u2018Babe, this is not even why you\u2019re\u2026\u00a0This<\/em>\u00a0is not your job.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
