target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cwy04kjwk09o\">a 100% tariff on all movies<\/a> \u201cproduced in Foreign Lands.\u201d Trump, posting on his Truth <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a> platform, said the tariff would be used to protect the domestic film industry that he believes is dying a &#8220;very fast death&#8221; due to foreign countries offering financial incentives to U.S. filmmakers.\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            Trump&#8217;s statement did not outline how the tariff would work, nor who it would target. Similarly, there was no suggestion of introducing any sort of federal subsidy that unions have long desired as a way of making shooting in the U.S. more affordable. Trump simply claimed to have authorised the commerce department and the US trade representative to immediately begin instituting his plan.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cThis is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat,\u201d Trump said in the Truth Social post. \u201cIt is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda!\u201d\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            \u201cWE WANT <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MOVIES<\/a> MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!\u201d he added.\n          <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trump now says he\u2019ll tariff foreign films \u2014 declaring them a national security threat: <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LKhdgSnLS3\">pic.twitter.com\/LKhdgSnLS3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Josh Wingrove (@josh_wingrove) <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/josh_wingrove\/status\/1919171940842893320?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 4, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/p>\n<p>\n            As FilmLA reports, film and TV production in Los Angeles has <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/business\/story\/2024-07-11\/production-activity-report-hollywood\">fallen nearly 40%<\/a> since 2022. This has coincided with foreign governments offering tax credits to production companies and studios to shoot their projects abroad. Trump is seemingly looking to reverse this trend, a move with potentially huge ramifications for the film and TV industries in countries such as Australia, the U.K., and other European nations that have become the de facto homes of movie production.\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            This year&#8217;s biggest movie at the box office, <i>A Minecraft Movie<\/i>, was primarily filmed in New Zealand. Meanwhile, the upcoming <i>Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning<\/i>, which opens in theaters later this month, was made in the U.K.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Trump&#8217;s tariffs, first introduced in April, have already had an impact in Hollywood with China <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/media-telecom\/beijing-bites-back-us-tariffs-by-curbing-hollywood-imports-2025-04-10\/\">reducing the number of U.S. movies it imports<\/a> as retaliation to 125% fees on Chinese goods coming into the country.
