Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar have been sued over unpaid royalties relating to a sample used on Drake diss track \u201cLike That\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rodney O, who\u2019s song \u201cEverlasting Bass\u201d is sampled on the chart-topper, is also suing the estate of Barry White who is sampled on the \u201cLike That\u201d remix released by Kanye West.<\/p>\n

Rodney is claiming that he has not been paid royalties from the song and that a proper release was never secured for the sample.<\/p>\n

He also criticized being left off the songwriting credits for the track when it was submitted to the Grammys and that he was not given the version that featured Lamar\u2019s inflammatory verse.<\/p>\n

A representative for Metro Boomin told TMZ<\/em><\/a> that they did obtain the rights to the sample and paid Rodney O $50,000.<\/p>\n

The rep also offers that Rodney\u2019s issues should be focused on the estate of Barry White who may be holding up royalty payments through their relationship with Epic Records.<\/p>\n

The estate of Barry White are yet to comment on the suit.<\/p>\n

Last year, Rodney O spoke about clearing the sample for the hit song.<\/p>\n

He said to Vibe<\/em><\/a>: \u201cIt is crazy because the song was big when it came out and for it to be even bigger now all these years later, it\u2019s crazy. I heard the song, I knew it was good, but when it comes out and the world hears it how you hear it and react to it the way you reacted to it, that\u2019s confirmation.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery song that I\u2019ve cleared, they\u2019ve sent it to me prior and I\u2019ve been able to check it out. A lot of people have used the same sample in the past, but when I heard [\u2018Like That\u2019], I was like \u2018they totally demolished it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

His claim that he did not hear the song in full also app<\/a>ears true as he said at the time: \u201cSomebody called me the day before it came out and said, \u2018Hey man, I got some news<\/a> for you\u2026I actually heard Kendrick is on that record.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I was like, \u201cNo, Kendrick ain\u2019t on that record because I have it. Songs now they\u2019ll be two minutes and 30 seconds, so when I heard it, I\u2019m like, \u2018That\u2019s the whole song.\u2019 So I said, \u2018He might be on a remix or something like that,\u2019 that\u2019s what I\u2019m thinking.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
