It\u2019s billed as the world\u2019s first commercially available song created using \u201cquantum-powered generative AI.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cRecurse\u201d certainly sounds otherworldly \u2014 like the kind of music aliens might stream while drifting through deep space. Yet again, that is kind of IL\u0100\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=uZYRr9S803g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">style<\/a>. The AI suggested parts like bass, synth, and drums, but IL\u0100 retained full control over instrumentation, effects, and arrangement. The music was then refined using quantum computers provided by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">German startup IQM<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Blending_quantum_and_AI\"><\/span>Blending quantum and AI<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Behind the scenes, the song\u2019s creation relied on the emerging field of quantum machine learning, which uses the unique properties of quantum computers to help AI learn patterns and solve problems faster than traditional computers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The track was produced using Moth\u2019s platform Archaeo, based on a type of quantum machine learning called Quantum Reservoir Computing (QRC). The system was able to identify subtle, complex patterns in IL\u0100\u2019s music that conventional AI might miss.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike generative AI tools like Suno or Udio, Archaeo doesn\u2019t create songs from scratch. Nor is it trained on vast quantities of music scraped from the web (often <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/as-suno-and-udio-admit-training-ai-with-unlicensed-music-record-industry-says-theres-nothing-fair-about-stealing-an-artists-lifes-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">without consent<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Instead, it learns from small samples from a specific artist, whom it then helps to make a new song.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt feels very refreshing to use a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> that has been built to work with you \u2014 not simply replace you,\u201d said IL\u0100. \u201cThis <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach produces something much more human led which feels more authentic in creative terms.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moth\u2019s technology was developed in collaboration with Brazilian composer <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eduardo Reck Miranda. Renowned for his research on computational creativity, Miranda has written an entire <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/books.google.pt\/books\/about\/Quantum_Computer_Music.html?id=SVSZEAAAQBAJ&amp;source=kp_book_description&amp;redir_esc=y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">book<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on quantum music. Last year he released an <\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/lesliekatz\/2024\/10\/04\/new-album-fuses-ai-and-quantum-computing-pushing-musics-limits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">album<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> called <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Qubism<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> made up of quantum computer-made songs.
