The 1993 Studio Ghibli<\/strong>-produced Ocean Waves<\/em> anime<\/a> special has received a new poster visual and a trailer ahead of its upcoming theatrical debut in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

The visual features shots of the main characters Taku and Rikako.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was announced in March that the anime will premiere in theaters nationwide on July 4 JST and will have a three-week run.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ocean Waves\u00a0<\/em>(Umi ga Kikoeru<\/em>) is based on the 1993 Tokuma Shoten-published novel by the late Saeko Himuro<\/strong>, which was originally serialized in Animage. Set primarily in Kochi, it depicts protagonist Taku\u2019s past meeting with Rikaku, a transfer student from Tokyo, during his high school days and the ensuing events. The anime\u2019s character designer, Katsuya Kondo<\/strong> (Kiki\u2019s Delivery Service<\/em>, From Up on Poppy Hill<\/em>), also contributed to the book\u2019s illustrations.<\/span><\/p>\n
