\n\tShemar Moore is addressing the SWAT<\/em> spinoff that\u2019s moving ahead without his former castmembers, saying, \u201cNobody likes change, but without change, you can\u2019t grow. You can\u2019t win without taking your lumps.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor, who led the CBS series<\/a> SWAT<\/em> for eight seasons before it was canceled, took to his Instagram on Monday to share a lengthy video (below), acknowledging that he \u201cmight catch some flak\u201d from the industry and fans following the announcement of SWAT Exiles<\/em>, which sees him return as Daniel \u201cHondo\u201d Harrelson.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Moore praised his former SWAT<\/em> castmates, he also explained why he\u2019s taking on the spinoff alone by comparing himself to a quarterback in football, aka \u201cTom Brady of SWAT<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s not arrogant, that\u2019s not ego, it\u2019s a fact. I\u2019m the quarterback. I\u2019m Shemar Moore, aka Hondo,\u201d he said in the video. \u201cBut I had a squad, a strong squad, a family, a team, and I would be remiss if I didn\u2019t say out loud to the world and to them, because I know they\u2019re watching this, I love you, I respect you, I app<\/a>reciate you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMoore continued, \u201cThat\u2019s my family for life. Just like in sports, Tom Brady might be the quarterback, but people get traded. Tight end gets traded, the running back gets traded, the receivers get traded, but the teams keep on pushing with their quarterback and I\u2019m that guy. So proud, so grateful. I\u2019m not gonna apologize for nothing. Busted my ass for 31 years to do what I do, and excited about the future. I\u2019m excited that SWAT<\/em> gets to keep playing ball.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Sunday, Sony Pictures Television announced that it has greenlit a spinoff of the crime procedural following Moore\u2019s character, who is \u201cpulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance, experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits.\u201d No other former SWAT<\/em> castmembers have said that they will be returning for the new series.<\/p>\n

\n\tMoore added in his video that SWAT Exiles<\/em> is set to start filming this summer.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile SWAT<\/em>\u00a0just concluded its eighth and final season, it was previously canceled after its sixth season in 2023, before it was revived two more times. After CBS canceled the show for a second time in March, Moore had been pushing to find a new home for the series.<\/p>\n
