\n\tDon\u2019t expect to see Luke Skywalker in any of the upcoming films Lucasfilm has planned \u2014 even as a spectral Force Ghost. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe 73-year-old actor, who has app<\/a>eared in five live-action Star Wars films and made de-aged cameos in The Mandalorian<\/em> TV series<\/a>, suggested that Skywalker\u2019s run is over \u2014 and should<\/em> be over.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI am so grateful to [creator George Lucas] for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called Star Wars \u2018the most expensive low-budget movie ever made,’\u201d said Hamill during an interview with ComicBook.com<\/a> to promote his new film, the Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck<\/em>. \u201cWe never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I\u2019m appreciative of that. But I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd by the way,\u201d he added, \u201cwhen I disappeared in [The Last Jedi<\/em>], I left my robes behind. And there\u2019s no way I\u2019m gonna appear as a naked Force ghost.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe comments come despite Lucasfilm developing a film that would be an obvious project for Skywalker to appear in \u2014 a Rise of Skywalker<\/em> follow-up focused on Daisy Ridley\u2019s Rey, who was Skywalker\u2019s mentee in the sequel trilogy. The film from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy picks up roughly 15 years after the events in Skywalker and follows Rey\u2019s efforts to build a new Jedi order. The New Order film is only in development, however, along with many other titles. <\/p>\n

\n\tLucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy previously teased the film, saying, \u201cWell, we\u2019re 15 years out from\u00a0Rise of Skywalker<\/em>, so we\u2019re post-war, post-First Order, and the Jedi are in disarray. And, there\u2019s a lot of discussion around, \u2018Who are the Jedi? What are they doing? What\u2019s the state of the galaxy?\u2019 And, [Rey]\u2019s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the books, based on what she promised Luke, so that\u2019s where we\u2019re going.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe next confirmed Star Wars title is The Mandalorian & Grogu<\/em> coming May 22, 2026, followed a year later by Star Wars: Starfighter<\/em> from Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling.<\/p>\n

\n\tRegarding Hamill\u2019s joking comment about leaving his robes behind, he and the late Carrie Fisher appeared as force ghosts at the end of Rise of Skywalker<\/em>, and he indeed was robed. And hardcore Star Wars<\/em> fans will counter that in 1977\u2019s A New Hope<\/em>, when Darth Vader killed Obi-Wan Kenobi, his robes were also left behind \u2014 but Alec Guinness still appeared in his robes when he showed up as a Force Ghost in The Empire Strikes Back<\/em> and Return of the Jedi<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tHamill\u2019s career has been busier than ever the last few years. The Life of Chuck<\/em> is a sci-fi adaptation of a Stephen King story from Hamill\u2019s The Fall of the House<\/em> of Usher<\/em> filmmaker Mike Flanagan this month. He also stars in another King adaptation, the long-awaited adaptation of the author\u2019s cult favorite novel The Long Walk<\/em>, which is out in September. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
