\n\tThe Prime Video series<\/a> based on Stephen King\u2019s Carrie<\/em> has filled out its core cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tSummer Howell (Cult of Chucky<\/em>, Hallmark\u2019s Crashing Through the Snow<\/em>) is playing the title role in the drama, a teenager with newly emerging telekinetic abilities. Samantha Sloyan (The Pitt<\/em>) will star alongside Howell as Margaret White, Carrie\u2019s domineering mother. Alison Thornton, Thalia Dudek, Siena Agudong, Amber Midthunder, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Joel Oulette and Matthew Lillard have also joined the cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tPrime Video ordered the series in April, with Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, The Haunting<\/em>) set as writer and showrunner. Flanagan has adapted several of King\u2019s works in the past; in addition to The Shining<\/em> sequel Doctor Sleep<\/em>, he wrote the screenplays for The Life of Chuck<\/em> and Gerald\u2019s Game<\/a><\/em> (teaming with Jeff Howard on the latter) and directed all three films. <\/p>\n

\n\tPrime Video has described the series, in development since late 2024, as a \u201cbold and timely reimagining\u201d of King\u2019s story. <\/p>\n

\n\tSloyan and Flanagan are frequent collaborators: She has had roles in Gerald\u2019s Game<\/em> and Flanagan\u2019s series The Fall of the House of Usher, The Midnight Club, Midnight Mass<\/em> and The Haunting of Hill House<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tCarrie<\/em> is based on King\u2019s first novel, published in 1974 and adapted several times since, most famously by Brian De Palma for a 1976 film that starred Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie. Flanagan is executive producing the Prime Video series with Trevor Macy of Intrepid Pictures. Amazon MGM Studios, where both Flanagan and Macy have overall deals, is producing.<\/p>\n

\n\tThornton (School Spirits<\/em>) will play Chris Hargensen in the series. Dudek (Doctor Who<\/em>) plays Emaline. Agudong (Sidelined: The QB and Me<\/em>) will play Sue Snell. Midthunder (Prey<\/em>, Legion<\/em>) is playing Miss Desjardin. Totah (The Buccaneers<\/em>) will play Tina. Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice<\/em>) plays Billy. Oulette (My Life With the Walter Boys<\/em>) will play Tommy, and Lillard (The Life of Chuck, Good Girls<\/em>) will play Principal Grayle.<\/p>\n
