Clipse have revealed that they were forced to part ways with Def Jam after the label attempted to force them to remove Kendrick Lamar\u2018s guest verse from their new album, Let God Sort Em Out<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to GQ<\/em><\/a>, Pusha T described how their relationship with the storied label crumbled over Lamar\u2019s feature on \u201cChains & Whips\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThey wanted me to ask Kendrick to censor his verse, which of course I was never doing. And then they wanted me to take the record off. And so, after a month of not doing it, Steve Gawley, the lawyer over there was like, \u2018We\u2019ll just drop the Clipse.\u2019 But that can\u2019t work because I\u2019m still there [solo]. But [if] you let us all go\u2026 \u201d<\/p>\n

It was also revealed that Def Jam were concerned about the optics of two of Drake\u2019s arch rivals teaming up on a track while his lawsuit against UMG was ongoing.<\/p>\n

As a result, Clipse and Pusha departed the label and eventually signed with Roc Nation to release their highly anticipated reunion album.<\/p>\n

Def Jam and UMG are yet to comment on Pusha\u2019s allegations.<\/p>\n

Last week, Clipse finally announced the release date for Let God Sort Em Out<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In a social media<\/a> post and cinematic trailer, the brothers announced that fans can expect the album relatively soon with it arriving on July 11.<\/p>\n

Let God Sort Em Out<\/em>\u00a0will also be executive produced by longtime collaborator,\u00a0Pharrell Williams.<\/p>\n

The announcement would also reveal that the entire project was recorded at the headquarters of Louis Vuitton in Paris.<\/p>\n

The unveiling was accompanied by a trailer which shows the two rapp<\/a>ers working in the studio as well as archive footage of figures such as Mike Tyson, Slick Rick and DJ Clue.<\/p>\n

The clip also features the voice of Marge Simpson.<\/p>\n

KAWS has also designed the project\u2019s artwork as he did with previous Clipse album\u00a0Till the Casket Drops<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Pusha previously confirmed that the album was completely finished by the end of last year.<\/p>\n

Speaking with journalist and broadcaster Ari Melber at Miami Art Week, Pusha said: \u201cWe always take long, people be mad. [But] it\u2019s okay \u2019cause it\u2019s done. I\u2019m telling y\u2019all, it\u2019s done. I promose you. It\u2019s in my phone.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
