The fidelity of the Texas independent folk artist\u2019s project is a rough linen-like texture with layers of compression and hiss, far beyond mainstream ideas of TASCAM-fetishizing \u201clo-fi.&#8221; Instead, Zuniga\u2019s music feels like the end of a long procession of cassette dubs and re-dubs, each one a little further away from the original master than the last, until only what\u2019s essential remains. There\u2019s also the title, its first half a statement of purpose \u2014 creating a home for the unknown within an evil world \u2014 with the second making good on its promise.\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            <i>in filth<\/i> provides an antidote to the heartless pursuit of chill vibes that dominates so much of meditative music. The album, just under 29 minutes long, was written and recorded over a period of five years \u2014 every second counts, and every decision compliments each other. Zuniga offers two versions of the songs \u201cEven God Gets Stuck In Devotion\u201d and Plenty For All The Masses\u201d and in these tunes we hear shades of Grouper\u2019s ambient isolation and Cindy Lee&#8217;s pop mystery, as well as clear glimpses of a deep spirituality. That feeling comes to a head on closer \u201cTo Live Happily,\u201d where harsh noise meets basement church piano noodling.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Since its release in January, <i>in filth<\/i> has built an enthusiastic cult following that\u2019s on the verge of going beyond the fringes of the internet: The album\u2019s first run of cassettes sold out, and starting June 3, Zuniga will <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/dagmarzuniga.neocities.org\/\">open three shows<\/a> for Mount Eerie across Texas.
