\n The White House on Tuesday said it\u2019s canceling a training course at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that app<\/a>eared to flout President Trump\u2019s recent ban on programs that use \u201ccritical race theory.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGlad to report, per @POTUS\u2019s directive, this training is being cancelled immediately,\u201d White House budget director Russ Vought wrote on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Christopher Rufo of the Discovery Institute published documents on Monday from what he said was a 13-week CDC series<\/a> called \u201cNaming, Measuring, and Addressing the Impacts of Racism on the Health and Well-Being of the Nation and the World.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trainings taught how to view \u201cracism as a public health crisis\u201d and said \u201csystemic racism\u201d causes \u201cpolice killings of unarmed Black and Brown men and women\u201d and \u201cthe disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rufo, who was influential in publicizing other federal uses of the academic theory, which applies a focus on race rather than individuals to social issues and history, said the CDC course was \u201ctextbook critical race theory.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s ban on critical race theory trainings also forbade references to \u201cwhite privilege.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ban was implemented through a memo written by Vought. \u201cIt has come to the President\u2019s attention that Executive Branch agencies have spent millions of taxpayer dollars to date \u2018training\u2019 government workers to believe divisive, anti-American propaganda,\u201d the memo said.<\/p>\n

The CDC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Post.<\/p>\n

Some Democrats have pushed in the opposite direction. \u201cSquad\u201d member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) recently called on the government to declare racism a public health crisis.<\/p>\n

A bill written by Pressley would establish within the CDC \u201cat least 3 regional centers of excellence\u2026 in antiracism for the purpose of developing new knowledge in the science<\/a> and practice of antiracism in health.\u201d The bill also would establish a CDC Law Enforcement Violence Prevention Program.<\/p>\n

New York Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jerry Nadler, Yvette Clarke and Brian Higgins are co-sponsors of that legislation.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
