Republican Representative William Timmons has asked US Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Paul Atkins for documents on the agency\u2019s historical app<\/a>roach to Ether.<\/p>\n

Republican Representative William Timmons has asked US Securities and Exchange Commission chair Paul Atkins to turn over documents on the agency\u2019s historical treatment of Ether under its Biden-era chair, Gary Gensler.<\/p>\n

Timmons asked Atkins in a letter<\/a> on Tuesday for \u201cspecific documents\u201d on the SEC\u2019s \u201chistorical views on the status\u201d of Ether (ETH<\/a>), which he argued will help the public and Congress understand the former leadership\u2019s approach.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder prior leadership the SEC refused to articulate a consistent, coherent view on how it believed the securities laws apply to digital assets. Its zigzagging approach to ETH is a case in point,\u201d the letter read.<\/p>\n
