Variety is reporting that the original anime<\/a> series<\/a> <\/span>Ninja Kamui<\/span><\/i> has been renewed for two additional seasons. The announcement was made at a panel focused on Adult Swim at this year\u2019s Annecy International Animation Film Festival.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The report states that the next season is \u201ccurrently in production\u201d and will \u201cfollow a new conspiracy of cataclysmic proportions.\u201d Details on the production staff and exact premiere dates were not revealed, as of the time of writing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Series producers <\/span>Sola Entertainment<\/b> previously confirmed a second season was in production last June, alongside the release of the Ninja Kamui: Shinobi Origins <\/em>video game<\/a> in May 2024. However, the announcement was deleted, with Adult Swim senior vice-president <\/span>Jason DeMarco<\/b> stating that a second season \u201chas not been announced<\/a>\u201d at the time. .<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The 13-episode <\/span>Ninja Kamui <\/span><\/i>series premiered on Adult Swim\u2019s Toonami block in both English sub and dub languages from February 11, 2024 to May 5, 2024. It began airing in Japan on July 2, 2024 and concluded on September 24, 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sunghoo Park<\/b> (<\/span>Jujutsu Kaisen<\/span><\/i> Season 1, <\/span>The God of High School<\/span><\/i>) directed the anime, with <\/span>Shigeru Murakoshi<\/b> (<\/span>Zombieland Saga, Dark Gathering<\/span><\/i>) as series screenwriter and <\/span>Yann Le<\/b> Gall<\/b> (<\/span>Meiji Gekken 1874<\/span><\/i>) as art director.<\/span> Takashi Okazaki<\/b> (<\/span>Batman Ninja<\/span><\/i>) is credited with the original character designs. <\/span>E&H Production<\/b> handled the animation production for the series<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The anime was awarded Best Original Anime at the 9th Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2025, and was nominated for Best Anime Series at the 4th Astra TV Awards.<\/span><\/p>\n

The story follows Joe Higan who is a Nukenin \u2013 a former ninja who escaped his clan and is hiding from his violent past in rural America with his family. One night, he is ambushed by a team of assassins from his former organization who exact a bloody retribution on Joe and his family for betraying their ancient code. Rising from his seeming \u201cdeath,\u201d Joe will re-emerge as his former self \u2013 Ninja Kamui \u2013 to avenge his family and friends. Kamui is a 21st century ninja, a shadowy anachronism who pits his ancient skills against high-tech weaponry with brutal finesse. He must face off against trained assassins, combat cyborgs, and rival ninjas to bring down the very clan that made him.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n
