\n President Trump\u2019s relationship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un app<\/a>ears to have soured, with the Hermit Kingdom on Thursday accusing the US of turning its dreams of peace into a \u201cdark nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the second anniversary of a historic 2018 summit between the two leaders, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Son Gwon accused the US of failing to live up to its promises at the Singapore meeting and said Pyongyang would rebuild its military.<\/p>\n

\u201cNever again will we provide the US chief executive with another package to be used for achievements without receiving any returns,\u201d Ri said on state news<\/a> agency KCNA, according to reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing is more hypocritical than an empty promise,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The foreign minister said the Trump administration had shown that its ultimate goal was \u201cisolation and suffocation\u201d of North Korea and announced the Communist country would build up a \u201creliable force\u201d to combat \u201clong-term military threats\u201d from Washington.<\/p>\n

The remarks signify a complete unraveling of the informal deal brokered by Trump and Kim at the June 2018 meeting where the pair pledged to normalize ties between the US and North Korea and \u201cwork toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.\u201d<\/p>\n

North Korea on Thursday also warned the US to \u201chold its tongue\u201d and stay out of its recent spat with South Korea after the totalitarian regime severed all communications with its neighbor.<\/p>\n

President Trump made history at the Singapore summit when he became the first sitting US president to meet a North Korean leader and again in 2019 when he set foot on Korean soil.<\/p>\n

The pair developed an unusual friendship, with Kim writing Trump what the president described as \u201ca very beautiful letter,\u201d but it appears his administration\u2019s attempts to reign in the rogue nation\u2019s missile tests have stalled.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
