Europe\u2019s best-funded space tech firm, Isar Aerospace, plans to strengthen the continent\u2019s access to orbital satellites after raising \u20ac150mn to expand its launch service.<\/span><\/p>\n Daniel Metzler, Isar\u2019s CEO and co-founder, said the investment reflects \u201cstrong confidence\u201d in the company\u2019s mission to become a new European space leader.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe are catering to the rising global demand for satellite launch services and provide global markets and governments with independent and flexible access to space,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Founded<\/span> in 2018<\/span> as a spin-off<\/span> f<\/span>rom Techni<\/span>cal University Munich, Isar aims to lower the cost and complexity of launching small to medium-sized satellites by offering launch services directly from Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n Europe\u2019s main rockets, Aria<\/span>n<\/span>e <\/span>6 and <\/span>Vega C, currently take off from Europe\u2019s primary <\/span>space<\/span>port in F<\/span>rench Guiana,<\/span> South America<\/span>. While the <\/span>rocket exploded<\/span> shortly after takeoff,<\/span> the milestone could open the door for future commercial launches direct from the continent.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe had a clean liftoff, 30 seconds of flight, and even got to validate our flight termination system,\u201d Metzler said at the time. \u201cWith this result, we feel confident to app<\/a>roach our second flight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Spectrum launch vehicles 2 and 3 are already in production, Isar said. However, no timeline has been provided for the next launch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n American investment firm Elridge Industries issued the funding in the form of a <\/span>convertible bond<\/span><\/a>.
